Difference Between OTP and ATM PIN
An OTP is a unique identification number which is used to authenticate the identity of user. It’s One Time Password that comes with a short time validity, generally 24 hours. The OTP is generally send to registered mobile number of user only. But in some cases, it is send to registered email-id of user also.
OTP is quite different from ATM PIN. You will receive OTP on your mobile phone but you will never receive your ATM PIN on your phone. From security point of view, this won’t happen ever. OTP is used to authenticate your indentity as the owner of ATM card. Using OTP you can go to next level of generating ATM PIN for your card. After generating OTP, you can set ATM PIN on your own. OTP generated will be valid for 24 Hours only but the ATM PIN will last till you change it.
Indian Bank Green Pin Generation – How to Activate Indian Bank ATM Card and Generate OTP
First of all, you need to visit an Indian Bank ATM near your location. To activate the ATM card, you will require to insert the card in the Indian Bank ATM Machine. So, visit your nearest ATM center belonging to Indian Bank and insert your card into it. Now follow the steps given below:
Step-1: As soon as you insert the ATM card into machine, you will see Green PIN Option on your screen. Press this option.
Step-2: Now select Generate/Set PIN option. After that, two options will be displayed
- Generate OTP
- Set PIN
Press the first option i.e. Generate OTP
Step-3: Enter your Account Number and confirm the same by re-entering it
Step-4: Once entering account number twice and selecting “Yes”, following details will be displayed on the ATM Machine:
- Your Name
- Masked Account Number( in the form of ****)
- Masked Mobile Number (in the form of ****)
Cross check each detail carefully and confirm the same.
Step-5: Once you confirm the above details, an OTP will be generated to your registered mobile number.
After doing this, you will the following message on your screen:
Thank You for using Indian Bank ATM.OTP will be sent to your registered mobile no. You can set your PIN with this OTP
Process to Set Indian Bank ATM PIN with Generated OTP
Once you generate the six-digit OTP on your registered mobile number, the next step is to set ATM PIN. Follow the steps given below for this.
Step-1: Insert your card once again into the ATM machine and select the Green Pin Option
Step-2: This time select, Set ATM PIN option instead of Generate OTP
Step-3: Enter your registered mobile number and press “Correct”
Step-4: Now enter the OTP that you received on your mobile
Step-5: Once you enter the correct OTP, you will be asked to Set PIN
You can now set Indian Bank ATM PIN of your choice but make sure the number of digit should be four only. After doing this, you will see the following message on your screen:
Your PIN changed. Please take your receipt
